Both Iranian and Chinese Men’s and Women’s Para-Volleyball Teams reached the finals at Asian Para Games with the two nations splitting golds as the Iranian men continued their dominance winning their third straight Asian title while China captured the women’s gold.
Men’s Final
Star, Morteza Mehrzadselakjani , led the way for Iran. With the height of 2.46m, Mehrzadselakjani was the the tallest player in the tournament continually causing headaches to the Chinese side being a powerful attacking weapon for Iran. Overall, the Iranian block was incredibly strong and they wrapping up the match in straight sets, 25-16, 25-14, 25-15. After the victory, Iranian players and coaches celebrated with the largely pro-Iranian crowd of roughly 2,000 spectators. The atmosphere was that of a home game for Iran as the many of the crowd rushed the court celebrating and taking pictures with the Iranian team.
Women’s final
On the women’s side, it was obvious from the start that China was the more powerful side. In the first set, China’s Gong Bin prepared clever setting for Tang Xuemei who was quick on the attack while Zhang Xufei was also performing well win 25-13.
Despite Iran playing a better second set, China once asserted its power with captain Wang Yanan closing the set from the service line 25-17.
In the final set, Iran’s head coach Fariba Soleymani attempted to make adjustments with captain Masoumeh Zarei Barouti but in the end the Chinese women were too strong as they would take the final set 25-16, and the match 3-0.

JAKARTA, Oct. 11 (MNA) – Iranian men’s team of national setting volleyball defeated China 3-0 in the final showdown on Thursday and snatched the gold medal of 2018 Asian Para Games.
