Lycurgus gives paravolley a chance

The volleyball club Lycurgus from the city of Groningen will also focus on paravolley. That’s a variation on the saddle sport, for volleyball players can not stand up. For example, because they have a prosthesis.
For the time being, there is only training, no competition team.
‘Very happy with the chance’
“Because you can not do this team sport anywhere else in the province, I’m very pleased that Paravolley is getting a chance in Lycurgus,” said Ellen Ceelen, actor in the National Paravolley Ladies Team.
“I have so much fun on the sport. It would be great to keep this in my city and to grow into a team. “

Paravolley
Samen met enkele paravolleyers gaat Lycurgus het paravolley opzetten. Het is een sport voor mensen die niet staand kunnen volleyballen.
Het gaat dan vaak om een amputatie of een knie of enkelblessure. Maar ook mensen die het een keer willen proberen zijn welkom.
“Omdat je deze teamsport nergens anders in de provincie kunt beoefenen, ben ik heel blij dat paravolley binnen Lycurgus een kans krijgt”, aldus de Groningse Ellen Ceelen, trainingslid en paravolleybalster in het Nationaal Paravolley Damesteam.
Er word elke woensdagavond getraind in de sporthal van Selwerd.
