From the outset, the teams thrilling rallies and spectacular actions delivered in attack and defense. Went the first set with 25:18 still quite clear to Russia, it was then always exciting. Germany decided set two paper-thin with 26:24 for themselves, the Russians beat the third well with 25:23. In the fourth set, the Germans launched a furious and led with 4: 0 and 7: 2, but the tide turned to 7:. 8 Until the very end it remained balanced, then the team coached by Rudi Sonnenbichler deposed and won 25:21. The decision had to be in the tiebreaker – and this began very badly for the Germans. With 0: 3, 3: 8 and 5: 9 were the local heroes in the home-EM lagging behind, however, launched a strong comeback and led suddenly 11:10. Russia took a break, made three points in a row and the victory for the Germans marched into the distance. But the team showed no nerves, hung Reinsvoll, led by sensational sprint with 14:13 – and converted the first match point to win. The rest was a huge cheer. “We have always believed in us and it still bent at the end. Justice triumphs stop sometimes but, “beamed coach Rudi Sonnenbichler. He had not forgotten that the Russians the final group match against Latvia with 0: 3 herschenkten to go in the semifinals the strong Bosnians out of the way. The answer for the lack of sportsmanship gave his team with an energy performance on the field and is now tomorrow, 15.30 clock, the “final home”. Against Bosnia, the grapes hanging in the battle for gold, although high, but the German team is capable of anything for this semi-final thriller. “We knew that it will be difficult and we must fighten until the end. That we turn the game after five goals behind in the tie-break even, is just phenomenal. The audience in the hall have not given us an extra boost, “said captain Heiko Wiesenthal rejoiced. And what is possible in the final? “Bosnia is the clear favorite, but now we want to with the crowd behind them, of course, be European champions.”

Without dropping a set in the last four: The German sitting volleyball players of the home European Championships also in the quarterfinals laid in Warendorf (NRW) a superior appearance and Azerbaijan clearly with 3: 0 (25:13, 25:16, 27:25) – sets defeated. On Tuesday morning, there will be really serious in the Bundeswehr Sports School: In the semifinals Germany meets the rivals from Russia (14 clock) – It’s not just about the entry into the final, but most likely already also for the coveted ticket for the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Should it create world champion and top favorite Bosnia and Herzegovina into the finals, the winner of the duel Germany against Russia would have the qualification already secured for the Games 2016th

Against quarterfinal opponents Azerbaijan the German team tied seamlessly to the good performance of the first round and stood well to the style of play of a counterparty. “Azerbaijan is a somewhat unorthodox kind of hard to play on, but we have learned from our video analysis the right conclusions,” says head coach Rudi Sonnenbichler unchallenged after 3: 0 victory. But this is also sufficient to defeat the strong Russians? Just as at the Paralympics 2012 in London, when the Germans had prevailed almost in a competitive match for the bronze medal against Russia. The Russians are all true professionals and a years-rehearsed team. The welcome the team of Rudi Sonnenbichler counteract with a good strategy and a lot of passion. “We are hot on the game and highly motivated. Against Russia we have certainly not afraid. I have a good feeling, “said captain Wiesenthal and adds:”. We want to get the ticket to Rio necessarily ”

And the German headquarters volleyball even recoup even a portion of extra motivation. After all, the Russians lost to the previously victorious and unprincipled Latvians in their final group game with 0: 3 – and so go in the semifinals top favorite Bosnia out of the way. “The conclusion I can not accept that. The game was apparently given away and that is incompatible with the fair play ideas “, Rudi Sonnenbichler will not mince words. “We want to give the answer to athletic on the field.” And at the same time secure the Paralympics ticket when home EM – supporting the German team before hopefully some viewers.
