Paralympic gold medallists Iran advanced to the last four of the Sitting Volleyball World Championships in The Netherlands but needed four sets to see off Egypt.
They won 25-19, 25-22, 22-25, 25-15 in Eindhoven on quarter finals day at the flagship event.
Defending world champions Bosnia and Herzegovina faced Russia and also came through in four, 25-13, 25-20, 17-25, 25-22.
In other men’s last eight matches, Brazil got past United States in straight sets, 25-18, 25-17, 25-20.
Ukraine were similarly victorious against China, coming through 26-24, 25-19, 25-20.
Iran will now play Ukraine in the last four on Saturday (July 21), with Bosnia and Herzegovina meeting Brazil.
In the women’s event in Rotterdam, holders China defeated Canada 25-13, 25-19, 25-17.
Paralympic champions the US also enjoyed a straight sets victory, 25-17, 25-12, 25-13 over Ukraine.
Russia advanced in four, knocking out Brazil 25-22, 25-17, 23-25, 26-24.
Host nation The Netherlands played Italy in the day’s final game but their tournament came to an end after five sets, 25-18, 20-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-11.
The women’s semi-finals tomorrow will see China play Russia and Italy meet the US.
